Birch Media Center

Welcome to the Birch Media Centers webpage.  We are excited about having a page to keep you up to date on what is happening in the library.

Each student visits the library once a week to find new and exciting places to journey in the wonderful world of books.  We encourage your child to read each night for at least fifteen minutes.

If your child is in Kindergarten, have them read their books to you.   First graders have easy reader chapter books available, which will encourage and give them confidence in reading larger context.  Ask  them to tell you what the story is about after they have read a few pages.  This will also improve their comprehension skills.  Third grade students have a wide variety of books to choose from, and are able to take two books out per week.

We invite you to come in and read to the Kindergarten classes.  If you are a grandparent, aunt, uncle, neighbor or friend  to one of our Birch students,  please contact the media center and set up a day and time to read to the students.  It is always an enjoyable time for all!

Birthday Book Club

Each person’s birthday is special.  To make a birthday even more memorable, the Birch School library has a Birthday Book Club.  By donating $10.00, a student can select a new book for the library.   A bookplate with their name and birthdate is put in the book and the birthday student will be the first person to check the book out of the library and take it home.

Even if their birthday isn’t during the actual school year, your child can still be a member, as the summer birth date is acknowledged on the bookplate.
