Our library was in need of some sunshine this past month after reading the book, The Contest Between the Sun and the Wind. The story is about the sun and the wind testing their strength by seeing which of them can cause a man to remove his coat, demonstrating the value of using gentle persuasion rather than force as a means of achieving a goal. We took that one step further and decided that if we noticed someone going out of their way to do something nice or kind to another person they would get awarded a sun. We laminated the suns and put them up on the back library window to perk up our library on these gloomy winter days. Needless to say, our suns are keeping us warm and hopeful for spring time to come. Thank you kids for your kindness.
