Clubs and Activities

 School-Sponsored Clubs

Art Club 
Runs through May. Open to all students grades 4-6 by application. Meets Wednesdays after school from 3:00 to 4:00.  See Mrs. Derr for details. 
Band
Students meet during recess to learn instrument technique and play together as an ensemble. See Mrs.Stilla for details.
Choir

Runs from October through May. Open to 5th and 6th graders. Meets Wednesday mornings before school at 7:30 in the Music Room. See Mrs.Stilla for details.

Intramurals Club

Intramurals Club begins in Fall and runs through Spring. Three different activities offered. Meets mornings before school at 7:30 in the gym. Days vary by grade. See Mr. Thomas for information and schedules.
Orff Club 
Meets after school Monday with Mrs. Stilla. See her for details.
Orchestra 
Students meet during recess to learn instrument technique and play together as an ensemble. See Mrs. Stilla for details.
Running Club

Aim to run a 5-K.  Meets Thursday 3:00 - 3:45. Monitors are Mrs. Stuart and Mrs. Harvey
Survivor Reading Club
Meets Thursdays after school in the library with Mrs. Boguski.  Runs from September to May. Open to all Maple students. Teams form to read and compete in challenges to outread, outlisten and outperform each other.  

Ski Club
A joint club with Chestnut and Pine Schools.  Meets during winter months . Details TBA.

Service Clubs
 
Garden Club
Will start in spring.  Dates TBA. Mentors Mrs. Dentkos and Mr. A.

Green Team

6th Graders recycle in the school from October through May. Meets during intervention.  Ms. Madachik advises.
Media Helpers Club
A select group of  5th and 6th graders who show responsibility and pride in their library and their school. Meets from 8:00 -8:25 Tues.-Thurs. from September through May. Help with book checkouts, care for classroom technology and the library, and help with media recycling.  Contact Mrs. Boguski in the Media Center.

Student Council

6th Grade student leaders elected mid-October. 2 representatives selected from each homeroom form the student government, which promotes spirit, operates a school store, and runs community service projects throughout the year. Mrs. Lewis and Miss Khaleq advise. Contact Mrs. Lewis for information.

 

Academic Improvement Clubs

Clubs Sponsored by Outside Groups
Good News Club

Bible Study and Christian fellowship. Open to all students.  Runs from January through March. Students meet after school on Tuesday in Mrs. Meng’s room. See Mrs. Meng for details.

 

PTA News
Reflections Contest
PTA Reflections Contest entries are due no later than Nov. 2, 2012. 

Informal due date is October 21, 2012 to make sure all information is correct. Students may submit one entry in any or each of the following categories: Dance Choreography, Literature, Visual Arts, Photography, Film, or Musical Composition.  Information and rules for each category may be obtained in the Media Center.  We look forward to seeing the creativity Maple students bring to their interpretations of the theme "The Magic of a Moment."
