Student Council

Blue Bag Fridays

For the months of January and February, Student Council is collecting blue bags filled with newspaper, catalogs, phonebooks, magazines, junk mail, and other paper every Friday. We are calling this “BLUE BAG FRIDAY”. Every Friday in January and February, a student council representative will be standing outside in the morning by the recycling bin.

Our goal for these months is to collect 2000 or more pounds of paper. We ask you to encourage your family, your neighbors, or any other people that you know to help Pine School recycle. Recycling is not only healthy for the environment, but can also help earn money for our school.

If we do not collect at least 2000 pounds of paper by the end of each month, the recycling company will take the bin away.

Help for Haiti

Our Student Council service project for the month of February is to collect money for the citizens in Haiti who have recently been hit with a devastating earthquake. Many families are homeless, in need of health care, and need food. Many of the people in Haiti are in need of money. Also many Haitian are in need of shelter since the earthquake ruined many homes.
Our goal is to acquire at least one dollar per student. The money that we raise will be sent to the people of Haiti at the end of the month through the AmeriCares (99% of our donations will go to Haiti) in hopes of helping someone less fortunate then we are. We appreciate any amount you are able to donate.

Paper Recycling

Student Council has an ongoing paper recycling drive and could use newspaper, magazines, catalogs and junk mail. Items that can not be accepted are cardboard or phonebooks. Recyclable items can be dropped off at the green and yellow container by the playground or sent in small amounts with students. Please pass the word to neighbors who no longer have students at Pine.
