Principal’s Message
Mrs. Denise Ressler
Dear Families,
Happy
New Year! I hope all of you had a wonderful holiday season, and enjoyed having
your children home during the winter break. I know I enjoyed the time with my
family. As many of you know, my first granddaughter was born on December 9th
and that made for a very special Christmas this year
It was
nice to get back to school and see all of the boys and girls again. It’s about
this time of year that we really start to see growth- physically, socially and
academically. I look forward to all that 2012 has to offer.
Below
are some items that I felt were important to keep you all posted on, so please
take a few minutes to read through everything.
OUTDOOR RECESS
The students will go outside for recess as long as the
temperature with the wind chill is 20 degrees or higher. Please make sure that
your child has a hat, gloves, scarf and boots to stay warm during recess time.
YEARBOOK ORDERS
Yearbook orders need to be in by January 12th.
Forms were sent home before the break, but we do have more if the original was
misplaced. There will be a limited number of extra copies available at the end
of the year, so if you are interested in getting a yearbook, please place your
order now.
TARGET AWARD FOR BOOKS/MEDIA CENTER
We were fortunate enough to be awarded $500 in free books
from Target this year. They are also sending representatives to help us
redesign parts of our media center to make a reading corner for students to go
to while they enjoy reading a book. If anyone has connections with companies
that might be willing to donate curtains, end tables, standing lamps, or
beanbag chairs please let me know. These are all materials that we will be
looking for to make this area more inviting for our students.
WELLNESS COMMITTEE
I would like to begin our Wellness Program again this year
at the start of the 2nd semester. If there are any parents that ate
interested in serving on the committee that plans activities and a timeline for
the rest of the year, please contact me. Last year, we focused on one component
of good health each month: nutrition & diet, physical activity, emotional
wellness, and ended with our Mini Relay for Life. If you have any ideas or
suggestions for this year, I’d love to hear from you. I would like to have a
meeting the third week of January.
Thank you for your involvement in your child’s education. As
always, thank you for the opportunity to work with your children.
“Alone we can do so little, together we can do so
much!”
