North Olmsted Board of Education Vice President Terry Groden visited Elaine Duke in Washington D.C. and presented her with a plaque on behalf of the district. She was honored to be recognized and had a good visit with Mr. Groden. Ms. Duke hopes to visit her former hometown when the new campus is opened in August 2018 if her scheudule permits.

Senate approves Ohioan for homeland security post
The U.S. Senate on April 4, 2017 voted 85-14 to confirm Ohioan Elaine Duke as deputy secretary for the Department of Homeland Security.
Duke, the department's undersecretary of management under ex-Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama, sailed through her confirmation hearings.
Both of Ohio’s U.S. Senators voted in favor of her nomination.
Elaine Duke graduated from North Olmsted High School in 1976 and her father Frank Costanzo still lives in the area.
