Students Come Together to End School Violence

North Olmsted High School students came together on 3/14/18 with millions of students across the country in a movement to end school violence and the tragic killing of their fellow students and school staff.

At 10:00 a.m. students quietly walked outside and ringed the oval in front of the High School. Student leaders read a short reflection on each of the 17 students and staff lost in the Parkland Florida shooting.

After the reflection, students and staff stood together in 5 minutes of   silence that spoke volumes.

The students (many dressed in orange which is the color of the student movement) were reflective, thoughtful, and deeply respectful.

They will work together for 17 acts of kindness over the next 17 school days.

A black and red balloon bouquet – the colors of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School – soared at the end of the 17-minute ceremony with 17 balloons.

Students are making their voices heard by contacting their elected representatives about the continued senseless loss of young lives.

A short video of the photo highlights is attached. The Westlife Newspaper school page for 3/21/2018 is also attached.
