Right-to-Read Week is coming to Butternut Primary from March 5th-9th.
This year's theme is,
"Oh, The Places You'll Go in a Book!"
It's going to be a Dr. Seuss filled week.
Even our lunch menu will be Seussical!
There are many activities planned for the week, and some do require prepartion and explanation. So your child will be able to fully participate in the fun, below is a schedule of events for the week.
MONDAY (3/5): "500 Hats of Bartholomew" ~ wear your favorite hat.
There will be a Kickoff Assembly @ 1:45pm with a Dr. Seuss biographical powerpoint; Reading Contest rules; and Magician Jim Kleefeld.
TUESDAY (3/6): "Fox in Socks" ~ wear silly or colorful socks
WEDNESDAY (3/7): "Wacky Wednesday" ~ wear something backwards or wacky
THURSDAY (3/8): "If I Ran the Zoo" ~ bring your favorite stuffed animal
FRIDAY (3/9): "The Cat in the Hat" ~ dress like the Cat in the Hat with black clothes & red neckwear; students will also be wearing the Cat's striped red & white hat that they make this week.
There will be a Closing Assembly @ 9:15am, with a special guest reading of "The Cat in the Hat" and the awarding of prizes for the Reading Contest and Library Contest.
Since the main focus of the week is reading, each student will be asked TO read or be READ TO, four Dr. Seuss books. This will allow them to be entered into our contest drawing. One girl's name and one boy's name will be drawn from each classroom for a prize.
Let's enjoy this exciting week,
as we wish Dr. Seuss a happy birthday!
