With an office staff of three, along with three mechanics, 38 regular drivers and 10 substitute drivers, the department maintains a fleet of 46 buses used on 38 routes transporting children to public and non-public schools. The buses travel nearly 300,000 miles per year on regular routes (a little more than 1,600 miles daily), and approximately 37,000 additional miles yearly for non -routine (field) trips. The Transportation Department follows all state laws for both student transportation, and bus build requirements, in order to safely and efficiently transport the children in North Olmsted.
