During the regular meeting on October 7th, the North Olmsted Board of Education approved Dr. Ted Caleris as the new district Treasurer/Chief Financial Officer starting January 1, 2027.
Dr. Caleris brings 29 years of experience in public education and has served as Superintendent of Brooklyn City Schools since 2020. His previous leadership roles include Assistant Superintendent, principal, assistant principal, athletic director, and science teacher. He holds a Ph.D. in Urban Education and an M.Ed. in Educational Administration from Cleveland State University. Dr. Caleris and his wife, Shelly, have been married for 25 years and have two children, Samantha, 22, and Zachary, 20.
Throughout his career, Dr. Caleris has developed a strong track record of financial leadership, strategic planning, and responsible management of public resources. He has worked collaboratively with building and district-level teams to strengthen and streamline the budgeting process, communicated complex financial information to a variety of stakeholder groups, and used financial and academic data to inform strategic decision-making. As he transitions into the role of Treasurer/CFO, Dr. Caleris will bring a clear focus on long-term financial sustainability, transparency, and thoughtful resource allocation. His “student first” approach will continue to guide his work, ensuring that every dollar is invested strategically and responsibly to support student learning, growth, and the long-term success of our district.
“I am honored to join the North Olmsted City Schools team and have the opportunity to give back to the school community where I live,” said Dr. Caleris. “Throughout my career in public education, I have been fortunate to serve in a variety of leadership roles that have shaped my understanding of what it takes to build a financially strong school district. Stepping into the Treasurer/CFO role allows me to bring those experiences to a community that is personally meaningful to me and to help support the continued success of North Olmsted City Schools. I am especially grateful to the North Olmsted Board of Education for the trust and confidence they have placed in me,” said Dr. Caleris.
“We are excited to welcome Dr. Caleris to our district,” said Board President Gina Lehmann. “As a resident, Dr. Caleris is familiar with our community and is personally invested in our district’s success. We thoroughly reviewed all aspects of the appointment, including the legal and ethical considerations. The Board’s decision was made with the best interests of our students, staff, and community in mind. We are confident that he will bring the knowledge, professionalism, and commitment needed to serve our district well,” she added. “Most importantly, throughout the selection process, Dr. Caleris demonstrated the qualifications, years of experience in public education leadership, and the expertise and leadership qualities that the Board was seeking in a treasurer. Those qualifications made him stand out as the best candidate for the position,” Lehmann added.
