Julie McGarey has been selected as the new Coordinator of Curriculum and was approved at the North Olmsted Board of Education Meeting that took place on April 22.
McGarey brings more than two decades of experience in education, including leadership, curriculum development, and specialized instruction. She currently serves as Assistant Principal at Polaris Career Center, where she has led satellite programming, supported special education services, and strengthened instructional practices across multiple career-technical pathways.
In her role as Coordinator of Curriculum, McGarey will support district-wide efforts to enhance curriculum development and support instructional best practices. She will also play a key role in advancing and supporting instructional technology across the district.
“Julie is a collaborative and student-centered leader who brings a wealth of experience in a variety of curriculum areas,” said Superintendent Chris Caleris. “Her passion for supporting educators and improving outcomes for students makes her an outstanding addition to our team,” he added.
During her time at Polaris Career Center, McGarey has developed innovative programming aligned with student interests and workforce needs, built strong partnerships with community and industry leaders, and supported pathways for students to earn college credit and career credentials. Prior to her administrative role, she served as an Intervention Specialist, where she designed and implemented individualized programs to support diverse learners and promote successful transitions to postsecondary opportunities.
McGarey holds a Principal Licensure from Baldwin Wallace University, a Transition to Work endorsement from Kent State University, and both a master’s and bachelor’s degree in Special Education from Xavier University. She has been recognized for her excellence in education, including honors as a Cincinnatus Association 3C Outstanding Educator and Milford–Miami Township Educator of the Year.
“I am honored to join North Olmsted and excited to support the incredible work already happening across the district,” said McGarey. “I look forward to collaborating with educators to continue strengthening curriculum and creating meaningful learning experiences for all students,” she added.
