Roselyn Sanchez, a 5th grader at Pine Intermediate School, has been named a national finalist in the Sodexo Future Chefs Competition—a nationwide culinary contest that celebrates student creativity, skill, and passion for cooking.
The Future Chefs Competition is open to all 4th and 5th grade students at Pine Intermediate School, giving them the opportunity to submit their own original recipes. From those entries, six students are selected to prepare their dishes in the central kitchen at the 6–12 campus. Each student presents their recipe to a panel of judges, who evaluate entries based on taste, nutrition, kid-friendliness, originality, ease of preparation, and presentation.
Roselyn’s dish, Mediterranean Burrito Blast, earned top honors at the North Olmsted competition, advancing her to the regional level. There, a panel of Sodexo chefs reviewed submissions and selected just five students nationwide as national finalists.
Now, Roselyn is competing for the top honor. As part of the final stage, a video has been produced showcasing her preparing her award-winning recipe. The winner will be determined through public voting.
Voting is open from April 27 through May 3. Supporters can cast one vote per day on each device—including phones, tablets, and computers—using the link below:
